White Raven Montana Wedding | Riley + Justin
These two have become so close to my hearts, and were ever since Riley’s first initial email to me. You might remember them from a while back and their snowy winter engagements in McCall, Idaho with their two adorable pups. Riley and Justin contacted me so so excited about their wedding, and the thought of me being their photographer. As we sent emails back and forth, we weren’t sure it was going to work out in the beginning. Which had us both INCREDIBLY sad because we just KNEW that we were the perfect fit for each other. More than anything, I want my couples to LOVE my work. Not only love my work, but love the moments I focus on, the experience I give them, and love me as a person— because I love them right back. All of these were checked boxes for both of them and I, so we knew we had to make it work no matter what. AND WE DID.
Riley + Justins day at White Raven in Montana was one that will forever remain close to my heart. These two are so full of love, unending happiness, and so much gratitude for others and the life that they have been given. We were literally counting down the days until their wedding, and it was one we were looking forward to for a long time!! I say we, because they actually hired my cousin Madison Rhoton for their wedding video too!! Photo + Video has actually been Madison and I’s longtime childhood dream, so any chance that our bride + grooms give us to live that out— you’re the real MVP’s. We freaking love working together, we pretty much are the same person and in sync the entire time— so I promise we’re a good time 😉
We showed up in Montana and were invited to their rehearsal dinner along the river where they cranked out some of the yummiest tacos. A simple camping rehearsal dinner in the woods— and we loved every second of it. Everybody invited us in like friends and family and we felt loved every second. Everything about Riley + Justin’s wedding was so carefully thought out— to every detail having purpose and meaning to them and their relationship. Riley’s grandpa handmade all of her turquoise jewelry she wore, her mom MADE her cape (SO AMAZING!), Justin’s mom decorated + designed the entire reception space, grandma made the jam you got to take home— and so many more. These were just a few of the details that had our hearts melting.
The whole morning was pretty decent weather— sunny, mix of clouds— and then ceremony time was rolling around…. And there was a TORRENTIAL downpour. Like everyone run and take cover cause it’s coming down hard. But no panic was had, and the second there was a break in the weather, everyone came together, wiped off seats at the ceremony space, and rushed every one down to get Riley + Justin married. So much love and community within this family + friends. They exchanged the most beautiful vows against the prettiest limestone, and these two were officially married :’). They celebrated all night long over pizza, so much love, and celebrating the life they were continuing together. Oh and also, of course, can’t forget the doggos Alpine and Kenai— of COURSE they made an appearance!!
Riley + Justin, I am forever grateful for you and your families hospitality and love. Your love for each other is so admirable, and your desire for adventure and to live this life to its fullest is so heart-warming. Freaking love you two and am grateful this magnificent day brought us together and is forever keeping us in communication with each other. Already planning a road trip to Montana for next year 😉
