So many words to say about this day, yet I’m going to do let the pictures say the bulk of it because I’m far better at that than I am at writing out blog posts. But this Boho Park Wedding for Chelsea + Chad is a stunner for sure, for so many reasons.
Nothing makes me happier than when couples want me to not only document their wedding day, but document their weekend because they have so much of their home that they want to share with me. From the very beginning, I felt so connected with these two and their vision for their day. How they wanted to keep everything simple and laid back, with no real structure to the evening. What was important to them was just spending time with their family + friends, and their Nola pup in one of their favorite places. Everything about Chelsea + Chad’s day was so carefully curated to fit their personalities and portray important pieces of their life. They chose to get married at an untraditional venue— not even a real venue, but instead a park that required everything from generators to bathrooms to be brought up and provided to host a wedding— because you actually had to take golf carts up to the chosen spot?! It made their day all the more meaningful and magical. Through FaceTime’s with these two as they were relaying this information + dream to me, I was stoked that they were doing something out of the ordinary and something that resonated with them, but the actual outcome was a MILLION times more magical than I ever thought it could/would be!
I arrived to Michigan on a September weekend, right when a huge storm was about to roll through. Everything was still happening how it was planned out, rain or shine. Chelsea + Chad actually ended up with the PRETTIEST clear tent just in case it did rain, and I think rain or shine it added the perfect element to their day!? (Bride + Grooms if you have the option of a clear tent over a white tent, I highly recommend it! Natural light is so much more present in these!) It was filled to brim with greenery from their homes + pine from her Grandpas tree farm (so special!), and it was literally my dream! I met up with Chelsea and her girls + mom as she was getting ready and was greeted at the door by the one and only Nola, who I miss so much?! haha. The morning was so relaxed as Chelsea got ready and put on the most beautiful crochet dress, and the sun was even shining! Chad and Chelsea shared a private first look in rows and rows of tall trees and he almost fell to his knees it was the sweetest thing!
Somehow, the storm held off the entire evening— as these two shared vows in front of tall pines, and as they celebrated the night away under twinkling lights playing yard games, having drinks, and sharing memories with their loved ones. The entire night felt so natural and easy, so very Chelsea and Chad. The love these two have for one another is so incredibly admirable and I feel so lucky to have got to witness + capture it. The entire night they just wanted me to be a part of their familiy + friends too. They wanted me to celebrate with them and enjoy myself just like I was a guest, and that’s the biggest compliment in the world because more than anything I want to have a relationship wtih my bride and grooms that feels like a friendship.
The next day, Chelsea + Chad shared some of their favorite spots with me around Ludington, places they spend so much time. It was raining the entire time, but it made it that much more dreamy!! It was so peaceful and we had the entire park + section of Lake Michigan to ourselves! (Which really DOES look like the ocean!) They even took me to ice cream after?! Wrapping up here, I promise. These two took me in like family, and I feel blessed to now call them friends. Truly I wish that we lived closer to each other, because I have no dobut we would hang out all the time and Oliver and Nola would be best buds?? They would be in love! Chelsea + Chad made a far away place from my home, feel like home somehow— and when I’m traveling alone for a few days that’s such a blessing in disguise. Grateful for these two + their friendship, and allowing me to document one of the most important days of their lives!
