These two will forever have a special place in my heart.
Katie contacted me forever ago, asking me to be her wedding photographer— no really set plans yet, they just knew they wanted to elope somewhere epic and were leaning towards Colorado.
After taking with Katie, I came to find out she was a photographer herself, wanting to go full time with it (she also did hair), but wasn’t quite sure when was the right moment to do so. (Which by the way, she is absolutely INCREDIBLE, and has the sweetest soul so check her out!!)
She ended up setting up a mentor session with me along with engagements, so we planned to do them all in the same weekend around Salt Lake. These two are from Kansas and had hardly even seen mountains so getting to teach + shoot Katie and her fiancé in such a beautiful place was so special and a complete and total blast.
Months of planning went by and there small wedding was to take place in one of Colorados prettiest places— Garden of the Gods. Katie + Jake wanted this day to be special and completely about them and who they are as a couple, so they didn’t let anything get in the way of that and making their day unique and fitting to them. It was an absolutely perfect day, a photographers dream wedding day if we’re being honest.
A first look in an open field with red rock mountains lining the background as the sun rose over the tips, tear-jerking vows between just the two of them, running through the park with not a care in the world only the feeling of “we’re getting married today” filling the air, a perfect incredibly windy ceremony with a jaw dropping background with their closest friends and family, and ending the evening with a small intimate homemade dinner on the patio of their rented airbnb, this day was nothing short of perfect and absolutely fitting to who Jake and Katie are. These two took what they love most, and included it all in their wedding day so that they could look back on it and say “this was US.” This is who we were, this is what we loved, and these are the people that we loved sharing these moments with.
They have pure souls of gold, so sweet and so genuine, hard working and determined to make those around them feel loved and included— I love these two with all my heart and can’t WAIT to explore and hang with them again in Ireland this spring!
