I want to say that this is my first actual designation elopement?? Which is so weird because it just felt so natural! It made me realize even more that that’s what I want to be capturing. Those small, intimate weddings where the day isn’t about entertaining the guests but rather really focusing on the reason you’re there. This was the most simple yet most heart-felt and special wedding that I’ve been a part of and I am so grateful for that.
Brittny + Zach booked me probably about a year in advance, and we didn’t plan on doing engagements or anything like that prior to their wedding. It just so happened that I would be down in Arizona (where they live), and had some extra time while I was down there so we decided to meet up and get to know each other. We had the prettiest and most rain-soaked shoot in Sedona late November of 2016, and it just made me even more excited for their wedding in August of 2017.
These two are all about adventure and seeing new places. They are the ones that ultimately convinced Chase and I to purchase an older 4Runner— our adventure car! They told us of the trip they want on where they hit a bunch of different National Parks and that’s ultimately when they decided that the Grand Tetons is where they would get married. I have so much admiration and love for these two and their adventurous hearts— being a part of their wedding day made me love and appreciate them even more! The kind of people that I see Chase and I adventuring with! So laid back, easy going, and truly just want to be in each others presence and see the beauty that this world offers.
Sadly during their wedding in August, is when all of the huge forest fires were going on so the Tetons weren’t incredibly visible as it was so, so hazy. Regardless, this didn’t affect the day at all and it didn’t affect their attitudes at all— the whole reason they were there anyways was to spend these moments with their closest 20 friends and family in the most beautiful place that was so special to their hearts.
And that’s why I love this day so much.
