You guys.
How does one put into words how epic this day (weekend) was?!
Faye + Casey booked me sooo long ago I don’t even remember when it was. When they told me they were getting married at a Mayan Ruin in Belize, I about died. Like I had never seen that before?! And I couldn’t believe that I got to be a part of it, and that they wanted me to be!
These two wanted to make their day unique and special to not only them, but to the people they loved most as well. So they decided to turn their wedding day, into a wedding week! Adventures included. These two are all about hiking and seeing new things, exploring the unknown— so they planned an epic and adventure filled week in Belize; hiking, cave tubing, snorkeling, pretty much everything and anything you can do in Belize. (My husband and I got to be part of some of these activities— you’ll see in the next post!)
We arrived the day before their wedding and we were welcomed in with open arms and I’m so grateful for that. I had only chatted with Faye and Casey a couple times over FaceTime and then of course through Instagram and emailing— but this was the first time actually meeting them! Their small wedding day was perfect beyond words. These two decided to exchange letters in private and do a first look and Casey’s reaction (honestly both of theirs!) were priceless. Just so overwhelmed with gratitude and love! We took buses to the Xunantunich Ruins— and they exchanged their beautiful vows on the ancient steps— after which we spent some time hiking up and down the massive steps and it was a dream! (A dream and sooooo hot! Faye hid a fan in her bouquet throughout the entire ceremony! Haha)
After which we went back to the hotel and they set up the prettiest reception down by the pool where all the trees and gates were wrapped in palm leaves and monstera leaves and literally any other plant you can think of— and if you know me, that’s heaven.
Seriously the San Ignacio Resort blew me (I’m sure all of us) away with how amazing it turned out! I don’t think I’ve seen a hotel do that incredible of a job on a reception area.
BUT. Yes this wedding was epic and a complete dream and I’m UNBELIEVABLY grateful and still in awe that I was chosen to document it. On the other side of things, it actually wasn’t the easiest!! The un-glam parts of this job definitely surfaced on this trip. My body is super not used to 95%+ humidity in 90 degree weather non stop— and I ended up getting extreme heat exhaustion and dehydration by the time the reception rolled around. Baking in the sun all day caused a massive migraine and for me to get to the point of not even being able to stand and walk around for longer than 10 minutes at a time before I had to run up to the hotel room to pretty much constantly throw up (TMI?? Sorry guys). It got to the point where Chase actually had to take over the last hour of the wedding. I’m always so grateful for him and his willingness to not only step in but make sure that I’m always okay!
But all that leads me to my next point of— how incredibly grateful I am for clients (friends) like Faye + Casey. I felt TERRIBLE that I wasn’t on my A-game the remainder of their wedding and that I couldn’t suck it up and stick out the last hour of their reception. Literally I was heartbroken because that’s my worst nightmare, not being able to perform what I was flown across countries for— for the biggest day of someones life. But they didn’t even bat an eye when they found out— they didn’t make it a big deal and they were more concerned for me than they were for their pictures. Like WHAT?! I already loved them to pieces but that made me love them even more. Two of the most selfless people I know and I hope they know how much that meant to me 😉
But enough of that! Here is their freaking beautiful wedding that was so full of what they love most, and so full of happy and grateful tears and moments— also please just admire Faye’s beauty and JAW DROPPING dress for one sec. Love these two + their day will always have a special place in my heart!
