This one is a long time coming!!!
This week back in Alaska for the very first Wild & Unwritten— was like nothing I had ever been a part of before. I never really saw myself teaching at a workshop, ever, nonetheless my own that I helped create— but Peyton somehow convinced me to do it and it has been the greatest blessing.
Peyton and I launched Wild and Unwritten almost a year ago— the beginning of 2018— and after months and months of planning and prep and not knowing how in the world people were going to take it— we launched this little baby. We drew our inspiration from our love of traveling, meeting new people, capturing stories and being a part of a story. We wanted our first location for the workshop to really speak to us and for it to be somewhere that wasn’t too treaded, and that would act as a source of inspiration itself. We looked into so many different places and we just KEPT getting drawn back to Alaska. It was harder, it was definitely harder to make happen— but we did. And I’m so glad we did.
This little gem of a state forever holds a special place in our heart now— but just LOOK AT IT. This place is unreal. I didn’t want to leave! Being in the mountains is hands down my favorite place to be, and being in this state and having a story to go along with it— was nothing short of incredible.
Anyways back to launching this little babe— oh my gosh I don’t know if my heart has ever pounded faster?! Like what if NOBODY signed up and what if everyone was like but why??? Why is Kylie teaching at a workshop?? Like I mean I understand Petyon, Peytons incredible— but there is always that little bit of self doubt (lot a bit), where you just wonder, can I really be a part of something so epic?
We sold out within the first 5 minutes of launching. We sold out technically before we even launched.
Holy. Crap.
Never ever ever would have expected that, and Peyton and I were ASTONISHED. Astonished and so incredibly grateful.
We sold out— and now 15 girls were flying from all over the country to attend OUR workshop in ALASKA.
So, then the panic really started. Haha not really, but kinda. We wanted to give these girls an experience of a lifetime. One that they could look back on with not only new knowledge to help them take the next steps in their business and journey, but with new friends and incredible experiences and memories. We set out to hopefully do just that.
The week finally came and most of the girls arrived in Alaska the day prior to the workshop date and they all rented an Airbnb and hung out and got to know each other, and nothing made Peyton and I’s hearts happier. To see all these strangers just meet up and WANT to create relationships PRIOR to the workshop— so going into it they could already be friends. And that’s exactly what happened! Peyton and I ran around Anchorage securing the rest of the details, shopping, exploring, and taking it all in!
Monday came and all the girls showed up at our freaking epic Airbnb in one of the most breathtaking towns in Alaska— we hung out, had a taco bar— and prepped for the next two days of learning + growing.
Some things didn’t go as suspected, some things worked out better than we ever anticipated— we took it all in and the week in all was one that we are so grateful for and couldn’t stop smiling ear to ear when it was over. So sad to say goodbye to all the girls, but ready to continue with our friendships and kick our butts into gear to make our businesses even better. So humbled and honored to have been a part of these girls life, and grateful they were a part of mine!
What a humbling experience. And one that I cannot WAIT to have again in Kauai for our second workshop in January. Grateful for Peyton and this friendship we’ve created over this— and we cannot freaking WAIT to continue this journey and be a part of so many more stories, to help these girls continue their own.
Our second workshop is sold out— but be on the lookout for MORE…. 😉
