Hurricane Ridge Elopement

What a special day. Emily and Mitch reached out to me longggg before their day.  They were so excited to be planning a wedding in the United States ALL the way from Australia. AUSTRALIA. And they wanted me to capture their big day in a beautiful National Park. But not only did they want me to photograph it, they wanted me to help plan their small elopement.  They had no idea where to start being thousands of miles away. This is a dream of mine. To help plan + execute + photograph beautiful special days in these incredible places that God created for us to enjoy and love on. They didn’t want anything extravagant.  Just the two of them, amazing beautiful flowers (shout out to Fire & Blooms because just LOOK), and an epic mountainous location. Their excitement and trust in me blew me away.  So after many emails, face times, securing some of Washington’s best vendors— pictures of Oliver and their English Bull dog Bronco exchanged— they made their way to the states and I made my way to Washington.

A destination elopement at Olympic National Park

We met up at a cute and cozy Airbnb with their two best friends (who also eloped this same trip ah!). The night before their wedding, we bonded over their first time having s’mores, hour long trips in Walmart, and eating Australian candy.

The day of their elopement we made our way up through the windy roads to Hurricane Ridge.  This is where they exchanged their vows on these massive hills overlooking the rugged mountains.  We ran around until the sun set and skies got darker in one of the most beautiful places any of us had ever seen. After which we went back to the Airbnb and stuffed our faces with all the finger foods that they never get over in Australia. Does a day get any more perfect than that?!

These two continued their road trip around the West Coast and even stopped in Boise to meet little Oliver and Chase! We took trips to Winco and Target and made a yummy home cooked meal. It was such an honor to share a little bit of home with these two sweet and incredible souls.

This day made me appreciate the little things in life, and reminded me to be grateful for this blessed life that I live.  Nothing should ever be taken for granted, and these landscapes we have been given were meant to be visited and enjoyed. Grateful to have friends on the other side of the globe and can’t wait to get over there to see a little bit of their home now 😉
