This day was so magical for so many reasons!! I’ve had the privilege of getting to know Sav and Zeb over the last about two years— they first modeled for me for a mentor session and I think that was the only time I had seen the both of them leading up to this day!! However its felt like we’ve known each other for YEARS, just because of how natural it feels to be with and around them. Zeb reached out to me while him and Sav were living over in Australia for a humanitarian project (literal angels, you’ll hear me say that about them a lot)— about wanting me to be there when he proposed to her in the Sawtooths— and soon. Because he just couldn’t wait any longer!!

After a few months of planning + choosing to reschedule to earlier in the year (because why the heck not!), the plan came about to where I would meet them at sunrise overlooking the Sawtooths on a beautiful summer morning. Chase and I drove up to Stanley in the middle of the night the night before to camp out at the spot that we were meeting them! Zeb had told me that him and Sav do this thing where they “hike their way home” after some time spent in the mountains— meaning they make pit stops along the way at beautiful places they see— and it’s a bonus if they can enjoy it for a little bit and cook up some breakfast. Something totally normal for them to do— so he told Sav that he had found this epic spot he wanted her to see and they could make breakfast at it before heading home. No eyebrows raised because this was a normal thing for them to do! I was hiding in the back of our car waiting to see their car make its way along the dirt road to the viewpoint, while Chase was in a black hoodie with one of my cameras on a tripod just acting like he was some stranger taking pictures of the sunrise (all the while he was videoing it for them hahah). We saw them park, get out, and make their way down to take in the view. Zeb dropped to his knee so fast and I practically rolled out of the car, running down to them to capture all the magic. The look on Sav’s face when she looked up and saw what was going on was so great. So much surprise!! And she thought Chase was some old guy bird watching the whole time— priceless.

Zeb read the most beautiful letter to Sav, proclaiming how much love he had and has for her. These two, at such a young age, have such an unbreakable bond that people dream of having. I have tears in my eyes as I write this because it’s pretty incredible the life they’ve begun together at this point in time, and how SURE they are of one another. And if you see them together, you know. You just know that God wouldn’t have it any other way!

It was the most perfect morning spent in the most perfect place. Zeb cooked us all (Chase and I included, so sweet!!) eggs and bacon as we laughed about how long this has been a secret from Sav and how she had NOO idea.

Love these two, and cannot wait for their day next year and all the magic it will hold, too!
