I am in complete shock at how fast this year went by. It was one of those years that went by in a blink of an eye, yet last January feels like a lifetime ago at the same time?!
I’ll try to keep this short and sweet— but this year was nothing short of incredible in so many different ways. In all honesty, it was one of the hardest, yet one of the most fulfilling years to date! As I sit here and reflect on all that it held, it was my busiest business year I’ve had yet, the year I traveled alone the most, the year that held the most lessons for me, and the year that I set out to feel less guilty about taking time off of work to create time to spend with the ones that I love most. So many, many good things— I feel so blessed. And I owe the most of that to the amazing clients that I now call friends, that I had the opportunity to work with this year. Who trusted me with their moments, flew me all over giving me the opportunity to experience new places, to experience THEIR places– and were nothing but respectful every step of the way!
+ I learned that I’m more of a homebody than I ever realized?! Don’t get me wrong, I love exploring a new place just the same as the next person. But this is the first year I really realized that I need that time at home to be with my people (and my dog let’s be honest) just the same– in the mountains exploring all the gems that Idaho holds. So here’s to more Idaho and Pacific Northwest Weddings in 2020 + beyond. I’m so ready for you!
+ I’m always learning to put my own ego aside and the demands of the wedding industry to “stand out”, to focus on YOU GUYS, and what makes YOUR day special. Because it IS, no matter the place, no matter the detail— it’s important just the same and I want to capture it like that. These moments are YOURS, they aren’t mine, they aren’t a popular wedding blogs, they are yours and they deserve to be preserved in that way.
+ I learned that I truly am inspired most when I connect and resonate with the couples that I work with. When we both want to work with each other more than anything, have things in common, love similar places and things– that’s when the connection is the strongest, and that’s when we are all at our most comfortable. That’s why client relationships are so important to me and the experience that I provide for my couples!
+ And over the years I’ve been trying to pin point what it is that was the biggest turning point in business and life, when you feel like you are at your most successful. Success isn’t measured by anyone else but yourself– there isn’t a fine definition, and there shouldn’t be! For me I’m the BIGGEST believer that your attitude and your outlook on life changes EVERYTHING. The times where I felt the most successful were the times that I had the most positive attitude, focusing on myself, the things I want to accomplish and do, and how I was affecting those around me– and not the other way around. So it’s forever a continued goal of mine to not focus on the negative, but only the positive, because as cheesy as it is, that lights a fire inside you more than anything else can.
Each year I end the year thinking that it couldn’t possibly top the last, but it’s not about “topping” the last year. Each year brings it’s own struggles, it’s own joys, it’s own new friendships, and it’s own accomplishments and growth. They couldn’t possibly ever be compared to one another.
So to all the couples, seniors, families, companies— that trusted me with their moments, THANK YOU. You made it the best year that it was and I’m lucky to know you and to have been a part of your story. I’m tearing up at the thought of possibly not crossing paths with you all again— so let’s not let that happen?! I got the opportunity this year to see SO many couples grow in so many ways. I got to photograph maternity sessions for past wedding couples, welcome in newborn babes, and so much more. It’s the biggest compliment to be chosen to document these milestones year after year and I’m so thankful for it. I love seeing each milestone you hit!!
I don’t have a day that stands out more than others that I was a part of. They were all unique and represented you, your love, and the start of new adventures in life in the best way— and I’m SO lucky to have been a part of it. This job is the biggest honor and the biggest cup filler.
Here’s to 2020, I’m so freaking stoked to see what it has in store, and to take the lessons I learned in 2019— and spend more time doing the things I love without second guessing, and giving my clients the kind of experience that they deserve most. I’m ready to party on your wedding day, in valleys and mountains for your engagement session, and help you relive your moments for decades!
CAN’T WAIT TO HANG WITH YOU ALL.
xx
